How did we design this women’s pyjama?

When creating this homewear collection, our priority was to find a fabric that was both comfortable and breathable, with structure and softness. To achieve this, we chose a blend of OCS-certified organic cotton and Tencel. Tencel is a viscose with a slightly shiny finish, similar to satin or silk. Combining these two materials creates a fabric that’s both durable and incredibly soft!
 

For the fit, we opted for a long-sleeved shirt and trousers set. We wanted to create a top that goes beyond the usual cotton jersey pyjama tee — something you can wear at home with the elegance of a shirt and the comfort of sleepwear. The women’s pyjama top features a V-neck and button fastening. And since at Angarde we know that the devil is in the details, we designed this cut so the shirt can be buttoned and unbuttoned with ease.
 

For the trousers, we chose a simple, straight cut — neither tight nor loose — with a soft elastic waistband for maximum comfort. These trousers are designed as indoor wear, not only for sleeping. The goal of this women’s cotton pyjama is for you to feel comfortable wearing it every day. The Tencel used here doesn’t have the shiny satin look often associated with lingerie; it’s more elegant than traditional flannel or modal. This women’s homewear collection combines softness and character. The colours are more refined and timeless than black or pink, yet more practical for everyday wear than white. Each piece was designed to mix and match easily across different colours.
 

What is the environmental impact of this homewear collection?

We know that the ecological impact of clothing matters — that’s why we carefully selected this fabric. These pieces have a low environmental footprint thanks to the use of Tencel, which is more eco-friendly than modal, and organic cotton. Modal is another common fabric for pyjamas, but it tends to be shinier.
 

The Tencel fibres, certified by Lenzing, come from wood cellulose that is filtered and dissolved in a non-toxic solvent. Since this solvent is recovered at a rate of 99.77%, Tencel is produced in an almost closed-loop system. The pine, eucalyptus, and bamboo forests used for Tencel production are specifically planted and certified as sustainable. Tencel also requires less water than conventional cotton and poses no health risks for workers or nearby communities. Moreover, these species don’t require intensive irrigation. Of course, we didn’t want to compromise on comfort in pursuit of sustainability...
 

All of these reasons make Tencel a fibre with a very low environmental impact. It’s softer than a traditional shirt fabric, as silky as modal, more breathable than flannel, and has more structure than 100% organic cotton jersey. And because it’s less expensive than pure Tencel fabrics, it allows us to offer you high-quality women’s cotton-Tencel nightwear at an accessible price.
 

Why did we choose an interlock Tencel/cotton blend? Because beyond being eco-friendly, both Tencel and organic cotton share similar yet complementary properties. They’re both soft, hypoallergenic, durable, and breathable. Tencel is often compared to silk or satin for its subtle sheen and luxurious comfort, while cotton adds structure — the perfect balance for a warm, elegant women’s pyjama.
 

How to choose your pyjama?

The first question to ask yourself is: what do you expect from your pyjama? Long sleeves? Trousers? Shorts? Prints or plain colours? A classic tone or maybe a bold striped pattern?
