Recycled, upcycled or eco-designed materials

Recycled materials

Slippers, mules, espadrilles, sneakers or homewear, we favor recycled materials so as not to produce what already exists and promote an innovative and responsible approach in the design of our models.

Recycled wool
(for our slippers)

It comes from Bigagli in Italy, a wool specialist since 1973: a recycled wool, soft and warm, certified Global Recycled Standard. For each kg of recycled wool produced, 500L of water and 50kg of CO2 are saved!

Recycled cotton (for our espadrilles, slippers and pouches)

We use recycled cotton from Poveda Textil in the south of Spain for the upper part (the vamp) of our espadrilles. Our bags are also made from recycled cotton from Ceitex near Florence in Italy. Finally, the lining of our slippers is made from recycled cotton terry from Textigor in Spain.
Since cotton is one of the worst crops in the world (needing a lot of water and pesticides), it is better to recycle it and thus avoid new harvests and preserve natural resources.

Recycled linen (for our espadrilles and mules)

Linen is an ecological natural fiber for several reasons: the plant grows naturally and requires no irrigation or pesticides. It is also a noble, light and resistant textile: its absorption capacity (much higher than cotton) makes it a perfect material for summer. Our partner, Poveda Textil, located in the south of Spain, uses linen scraps to make 100% recycled linen.

Bamboo fiber (for our espadrilles)

Poveda Textil, located near Alicante in Spain, is our partner for the inner lining of our espadrilles. This material is made up of 70% bamboo fiber and 30% recycled polyester. Bamboo fiber has the particularities of consuming very little water for its cultivation and of being 40% more absorbent than organic cotton while being antibacterial: it is therefore a very breathable and very soft lining.

Recycled plastic bottles (for our espadrilles and sneakers)

We have chosen a lining made of GOTS certified organic cotton terry cloth for numerous models, including our interchangeable women's and men's slipper insoles. The Global Organic Textile Standard label is the most demanding in terms of quality criteria regarding organic cotton fabrics. It focuses on both cotton cultivation and all stages of textile production. Our workshop, Poveda, in Portugal, has been quality-checked by this label and has received GOTS certification. Thus, this organic cotton terry cloth is clean from A to Z, at every stage of its production!

Cotton/Tencel knit (for our pajamas)

It comes from Matias & Araujo in Portugal. This blend of 70% Tencel and 30% organic cotton is a soft blend of two high quality yarns for your greatest comfort. The Tencel fibers are the same as our Tencel oxford.

The cotton used in this knit is certified organic (OCS). It therefore uses less water than conventional cotton and does not cause health problems for workers or people living near the fields. Furthermore, less expensive than Tencel, it allows us to offer you a high quality product at an affordable price.

Oxford in Tencel (for our shorts)

It comes from Somelos in Portugal, a family business founded in 1958. Tencel fibers, here Lenzing certified, come from wood cellulose, dissolved in a non-toxic solvent. This solvent being recovered at 99.77%, Tencel is produced in a quasi-closed loop circuit. The pine, eucalyptus and bamboo forests used for the manufacture of Tencel are specifically planted and are certified sustainable. In addition, these are species that do not need intensive irrigation. All these reasons make Tencel a fiber with low environmental impact.

Recycled latex (insoles of some models)

Arneplant in Spain has developed an insole made of recycled latex foam, memory foam, with an arch, for maximum comfort. Arneplant is today one of the European leaders in shoe soles.

Recycled cardboard (packaging)

All our boxes are made in Spain or Portugal, from 100% recyclable recycled cardboard.
